This module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer by causing me to look at the whole picture of the project--what types of questions it is answering (it's purpose), where the students are before and after taking the unit, and how I will accurately assess their learning and allow it to guide my teaching as we go through the unit. It has also helped me to think about creating lessons that incorporate more self-discovery on the part of the students which makes the content more meaningful.
This Module has made me think about my role as an instructional designer in that it is really forcing me to think about every detail of the project I am hoping to design and use.
I am hoping that I will be able to create a project for my U.S. history class for the Great Depression using the strategies I learn in this class. I am concerned that I may make the project too big and go from a project that takes two months instead of two weeks!
This has made me think about my role as an instructor. We have tried to look at lesson and unit design from the role of the teacher, student, parent, and administrator.
My concerns are having enough time to put in this much thought and effort in all of the lessons and units that I am teaching. I am hoping to find a happy medium, or get much more proficient at the process.
The module has me thinking about the way that I have been teaching my students. I need to work on ways to take general education standards and connect them (make them as real and meaningful as possible) to the students who I provide support services to :) I have a lot of work ahead of me -- there is no magic answer -- Teaching is individualized to all students.
Worried about completing a unit that I would be using to co-teach in a classroom with another educator (not sure if using my husband as the other educator is a + or -)
My mind needs time to percolate the information. I am tense about what I have to do. It is imperative that I, as an educator have to specifically design my instruction and assess what I am teaching. I want my students to make progress and learn and I have very little control over what my students are capable of learning. I just keep teaching.
I should not be confused but I am. I need more quiet time to get work done and it is difficult in a classroom setting.
I'm REALLY happy that the instructor understands the needs of the "non-linear" thinker. At this point, I am gathering resources for the unit that I am thinking about doing. I’m also looking forward to viewing the educational videos that Carolynn will be sharing. This is going to be a great class!!
I am a good instructional designer when I take the time to design my lessons. :) I have great ideas. However, I have a difficult time following through with the projects.
Technology is crucial in education. It is sad that students have to powerdown to come to school. I am excited to develop a lesson to encourage my students to stay Powered up at school!
This module made me think about my role as an instructional designer in the following ways... I am usually a teacher that picks up the textbook and teach what it provides. I also think that the textbook does not always present the lesson in an engaging way for my students. My goal is to be an engaging teacher. I hope to become a more engaging teacher by learning more about incorporating more technology in my lessons.
This class made me think of myself as an instructional designer because the class wasn't as difficult as other teachers were telling me. It all makes sense. Start with the end in sight.
After tonight, I have more confidence with this INTEL program. The lessons can be interactive to use with my support groups.
This module has made me think about what my role as a teacher. Which should I push in my classroom...content or thinking skills. What is the balance of questioning strategies in my classroom...and what is a good balance?
I am originally from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. I relocated to Arizona in 1990. I have been teaching in a small Arizona community on the border of the Navajo Indian reservation. I have worked with middle school students for the last 8 years. This explains my level of insanity.

ReplyDeleteMy concern is I am writing a brochure for a project I have very few clues about. I also know I will struggle with the non-linear design of this class.
ReplyDeleteAs more of a facilitator than an instructor; which is what I would prefer to be. However, sometimes I feel I am babysitting, instead of teaching.
ReplyDeleteEven if I learn how to utilize this technology, will I really have it available to use in my classroom.
